    Default Lightning - live

We had a rare thunderstorm here at the coast. Dropping record amounts of rain. It made me curious about lightning and I found this cool site (http://www.lightningmaps.org) that shows live lightning strikes around the world.

I actually thought about installing one of their detectors up here in Idaho since there don't appear to be any, but they've been working on a new version of their hardware for some time and it isn't available yet.

    Cool.
I also noticed that there are only a couple in SoCal. Looks like these little devices can detect lightning 100, 1000s (?) of km away. I have not read up on how they work yet.
