Since April, a friend and I have been taking 3- 5 mile walks sometimes leading into the fringes of the nearby canyon and wash. Last night we decided to take a 4 mile hike instead...and almost bumped into this little guy. It was dark - we almost didn't see him until it was too late! We also saw lots of bobcat tracks....but didn't run into any on the trail. Kind of funny that I rarely see snakes in the backcountry then here in my own backyard here's this guy...although our local mountains are rattlesnake havens for sure!
