Hello all! I hope all is well with you, happy belated 4th!!! Ok I know this has been hashed out before but like some I think ramps/ladders could serve a useful purpose in ones recovery gear inventory. That being said I have made up a pair out of a single hinged ramp. I removed the hinge part and have two 43" x 11" ladder type ramps made of aluminum with 1" sq. tubing 2" side pcs. and flat ribbed 2"' rungs, hard to visualize but check out any loading ramps and you will get the idea. Now...... I have not tested them but they are rated when used as a single hinged ramp at 500#. I tend to think that a " half of a ramp" would hold much more than 500# if used to span a deep 2' wide or so wash out, 1 or two tires at a time. Some of the old logging roads we explore or even the seasonal roads can have some wash outs diagonally crossing up or down slopes that can swallow a tire. As traction ladders in mud/snow/sand I think the would be fine if you took your time planing your recovery. So any comments or suggestions? I am going to put them up on a curb and see if the support the front axle and will post when done. No curbs in our neighborhood ha!! stay safe, mjmcdowell Oh yea my truck is a CC GMC Sonoma 4x4.
