OK, since I already got off topic with computer fan (http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4766), how about I post here some info on NAS ? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network-attached_storage)

Ever wanted to share a network drive with other computers at home without having to leave a computer on all the time just for that purpose? Want to play a bit with network attached storage (NAS)?

Here (http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=SC101-100NAR&cpc=SCH) is how you can start to build one for Windows machines for ~ $55.00. Just add the HDs into the box.
This won't be the fastest network storage one can have, but for this price, it seems a good deal.

I may have to do something like that. I've got a couple of PCs around the house in addition to the car computer. The one with the most disks on it is not very quiet, but I hate to throw working stuff out - besides I've got 600G of disk on it. The other is a used Dell SX260 from ebay that is small and quiet but it doesn't have a lot of storage. Reusing the disks in one of those boxes would give some shareable storage and let me use the quieter computer which I sure like after listening to all that fan noise. (Actually, some of it is the disks, but I could stash a small networked box that doesn't need a terminal or anything like that somewhere so I don't have to listen to it.)
