Hi All,

I wanted to do a trip somewhere in the Sierra's that has some moderate 4wd trails and backcountry camping. Maybe south of Yosemite area and possibly near a river.

Don't know if such a place is available.

Thanks!

i know a prett fun run around the markleville area... called the Barney Riley Trail. I have done it a few times... good all around trail. the best part is its on the carson river and there is a hot spring with a few man made tubs. the camping is good and it can be prefect weekend trip

Get a Sierra National Forest map , shows 100's of miles of roads from graded to 4x4 only. Couple of books ," High Sierra SUV Trails " Vol 2 The Western Slope By Roger Mitchell , and " Backcountry Adventures" by Peter Massey and Jeanne Wilson. Look at the Southern book I think.

I think you will want the Northern book. I am looking at it and the map shows the High Sierra Region. I starts in Frenso and fallows the 99 north to Hwy 120 then it goes east the state line. From Frenso it make a staight line to Independence then It goes south to California 90 and make a turn east to the state line. Hoping to make a few trips this summer around Hwy 4 area. would you be interested in that? I live in the Sac area.

I could not remember where north meet south, thanks. I've got a cabin in Arnold off Hwy 4 ,lots of places to explore , lots of mines on the other side of the Sierras out of Markleeville.

I heard from someone that there is some good stream fishing there too?

Where Carson River and Wolf creek come together , lots of camping spots. More creeks closer to Hwy 4 on east side after Ebbetts Pass than the west side.

Hey guys, if you are interested in trips in the sierras I am always up for a trip. I live in Pine Grove, between Lake Tahoe and Sacramento on HWY 88, and have explored most of the trails around.

do you have a blue 60? Might have seen you on some other sites. My wife and I pass through there in the summer a few times when we go on day hikes. should plan for something in the early summer for a multi day trip.

Yep, that is me. What kind of rig do you have? Where you from? I am always looking for more people to wheel with up here. Have you ever hit any of the surrounding trails up here?

I live in the town of Galt, I have been to PI-PI and Bear River Reservoir and a couple of other camp grounds, other than that I need to get out more...

Look at the sig for spec on the rig.

I have a little cafe off of Bradshaw and Jackson Hwy. Well it is on Kiefer. if you are ever in the area stop by. I can send you info if you want.

My buddy and I drove up the road a bit today and found some nice snow. Hwy 88 was pretty quiet. Anyone else in northern California interested in trails up here?

Hwy 88 and Ellis rd on Tuesday. This was taken about 30 seconds after I stopped, it was coming down hard.
