Work will bring me to Ridgecrest, CA May 7-10. I was thinking of heading down the weekend prior, or staying for the weekend after to do some exloring of the area. i dont know the seasons there, but it may still be a good time to go? maybe someone from the area wants to get out there with me?
So your looking at the weekend May 5 & 6?
We might be free that weekend, but we would not want to go to DV.
If your plan changes to areas closer to Ridgecrest, let us know.

Chris..........
If my new engine is installed and ready to go by then..........I would love to join you!
Being in Ridgecrest...........you will be in the best location to explore an area that would take a lifetime to explore!:hat:
It's just 200 miles north of my home.
Make sure you put the El Paso Mountains....and the Burro Schmidt Mine on your list of things to do!
I'll keep an eye on this thread.

I’d also add Red Rock State Park, Fossil Falls, and Randsburg as places to see. For drive Trona Pinnacles, Spangler Hills, Blackwater Well, Red Mtn, These drives are all within 20 -30 miles of Ridgecrest.
When you get to the area pick up the “friends of Jawbone” map. It has lots of roads and info.
I seem to recall May 12-13 as taken, I’ll let ya know as the date gets closer.

Absotivly posilutly must see Fossil Falls, and see the petroglyphs there too.
Then the tour of the Wild Horse mesa:yeah: . The Trona Pinnacles should be seen in full moonlight for the spookiest effect!:freaked: Or better yet, Camp there!:camping:
the run to Red Mountain, Spangler, and the old Ranch are easy runs too for stuff to see.:supercool:

I should be heading towards Vegas the weekend of 11-12 and I may be able to break free for some exploring.

i cant belive it, but i have to bail on my own trip.
my wife has to go to boston the same week i was headed down there... my duties as a dad take a front seat to exploring. i would just bring her, but since i was going to be in the area for work... i couldnt bring her along for that part anyway.
Thanks for the suggestions of places to see in the area... they are all on my list of things to do.
sorry if anyone was planning for this... hopefully you still go check it out.
