Hello,

I have a digital video camera (DV) for about 2 years now. Never connected it to my PC until this weekend.
It was VERY easy to transfer videos with fire wire and Windows Movie Maker 2.
I would like to make some DVDs ad videos CDs and play them on a regular player (not PC).

What format the regular DVD players use?
I could not find a way to save the DV from Movie Maker into different formats. It seems that the save as just like Window Media Video (WMV)file or something like that.

Anybody with experience on this?

I will try to bring the camera for future trips and make some videos.

Most DVD players support the popular computer picture/movie formats, no conversion needed.

I am going to replace my video camera in the next few months, and am looking at the High Definition units, but they are still pretty big, and very expensive. So I might just buy a cheap DV camera and wait for the HD units to get below $2000. There are some camera's that have 3 CCD's (one for each primary color) that are less than $2,000, but they still shoot at 500-600 lines.

I did finally buy a serious digital camera (6mp) the other day that takes QVGA movies (30 FPS, AVI). This is a decent interim solution to my video camera needs. I sprung for the 512 memory card, which will give me 15 minutes of QVGA video, and 167 pictures at full resolution.

I loved your new digital camera.
Can you share the rational on not getting the Canon digital SLR like?

The main reason was size. This Fuji is nice and compact with a 37-370mm lens. I will eventually buy a Digital SLR camera to use my lenses with, but not until 14 mega pixel drops below $2,000. This will give you the same resolution as a medium format film camera! http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/cool.gif
