There's nothing like a good day of wrenching. The weather was perfect - 45 and sunny. The driveway was dry. And everything went smoothly.

Here's what I did for five hourson Satuday:

1. Replaced driver-side inner CV boot (it had a slight tear)
2. Replaced passenger front lower shock bushing (long story)
3. Replaced front sway bar bushings
4. Changed the rear diff fluid
5. Fixed a short in my e-lockerlocked indicator circuit

Pulling the front axle, replacing the boot, and putting it back in took me under two hours. I'll probably have it down to 1.5 hours the next time.

All I have to do now is replace the plugs and change the oil and the truck is ready for Utah. Only 3.5 weeks till we leave!

Always a plus when things go smooth. </div>

I have a few boot Qs:</div>

You know how the damage happened?</div>

You have manual hubs?</div>

Did you use Toyota Boots? or other make of boots?</div>

It was a small tear. My guess is that it happend when I was doing a bit of mudding. Or maybe a stick got it there. Who knows?

Stock hubs. I'm not ready to drop a grand for manual hubs.

Toy boots. NAPA and Big Wheel could have ordered them, but it would have taken a while. Plus I got the whole boot kit from Toyota, which includes all the straps, greese, clips, etc. $40 or so for the kit that includes the inner and outer boots.

Thanks</div>
I have a set of axles that I'm rebuilding*, I'm going to use the EMPI boots. I picked the axlesup cheap, and will have them ready when I need them. The EMPI boots are softer than the Toyota boots when new. Not sure it matters, and be 10 years before I'll see any difference, if I ever do. </div>

*got one done, and not in any hurry to get them done, and have found more fun projects to work on. Besides I'll most likely only need one when I bust a boot anyway.

Hello,
A good day indeed. Way to go.

Since we started on bushings, I have a question.
I have a 133+K 4Runner. I would like to replace all the bushings on the suspensions. They seem very worn.
Can you help me prepare list on what and what priority?
Other replaceable parts?

Thanks,
-JACK

All the bushings? Other replacable parts? Sounds like a great FAQ page that we can start working on. If I had a Toy OEM Shop Manual that would help a lot, but I don't. Does anybody around here have one?

Steve has the volume re: chassis. He has one volume of four if that helps. He will be back tomorrow.
