Questions:

Front ARB. Did you install it alone? Can you give a hand if some one us want to do it too?

Swaybar disconnect. Where to get it? How much? How much work to install?

Thanks for starting a thread for me. It makes me feel very welcome. :) I would like to start out with an official 'yah hey der' from Minnesota.

Front ARB install - I bought a spare diff and had a shop install the ARB and set the gears. Other than that, my brother and I did the rest of the install for the front ARB and the rear e-locker retrofit. With the diffs, wiring, and everything else prepped and ready to go, it took us a day and a half to install the dual lockers. I went with a Viar450 compressor and custom-made the wiring harness. ARB supplied a great wiring diagram. This was my 2nd ARB install. I put a rear ARB in my old Montero as well.

I'd be happy to help with the install if you bring your rig to MN. I enjoy a good day of wrenching. I wish I could help with the gears, but I do not have the skills or the tools (that's what brothers, friends, and shops are for).

I got the front swaybar disco from Lars Dennert. Easy to install, although sometimes the oem links are a pain to remove.
home.earthlink.net/~larsdennert/4runner/swaybar/ (http://home.earthlink.net/~larsdennert/4runner/swaybar/)

I've had the truck since October of 02. It's my second 'expedition' vehicle and a vast improvement over my old Montero. My main mods so far:
ARB IFS Air locker
E-locker retrofit
SAW Racerunner coil overs
HD OME rear coils and shocks
ARB Bull bar
Superwinch X9
Armor - more coming soon
Camping mods - rear shelf, roof rack, awning, etc.
I had 32' MTRs on it but just replaced them with Revos. So far I'm very impressed by the Revos. I liked the MTRs too, but the AT tire is better suited to the trips we have planned over the next year or two.

The X9 is a simple, reliable winch. It pulls fine for my infrequent recovery/landscaping needs. I know a few folks who've had them for years and they seem to hold up to a lot of abuse. Most importantly, I got it new (a return to Northern Tools) with roller fairlead for $400.

Hey I liked the t-case pate a lot.
Where did you get it?

The price on the winch, I liked too much!

Is there a way we can do a group buy somewhere?

I bought the plate at my favorite metal yard. I had 'em cut it for me. All I did was measure it and drill the holes. I may end up reinforcing the plate a bit, but I think 3/16 should do fine and it may not need it. We'll see . . .

The x9 price is for a returned unit at the local Northern Tools outlet. No group buy option there.

Got it.

Good job.
I need to find a junk yard close to San Diego. You can always use some parts on projects.
For instance I could use new clear headlights. I am not sure where to look for them here in San Diego.

Cool!
I can see a good nigh of sleep in there.
Time to take the kids for a real camping.

It would be nice to have the 4WDTrips kids all together in a trip one day.

Speaking of camping. This friday is my first Brownie "encampment." In other words I will be entertaining a bunch of 2nd grade girls. HELP!!!!

The troop leader has labeled me as the camping expert, so I get to bring all of our tents (we have four), ground pads, tarps, etc. It looks like rain, so I may have totest out the 4runner condo. :)

Ohoh, lots of work. But hey the payment from the kids will come in form of smiles, hugs and kisses. Enjoy it!

Absolutely. It's kinda 4runner related. I'm building a new garage! :)

Other than replacing the siezed SAWs with new SAWs, the 4runner hasn't had any mods for a while. I may do a new rear bumper this winter, but for now I'm just gonna drive it.

I do have one cool mod that my kids really like. Pic coming soon . . .

Seems to work just fine. All in the name of the family.

What is that wind deflector you seems to have? It seems a thick plastic made ...

It's the Thule fairing. Works fine and was easy to install on the Wilderness rack. I simply had to add some spacers to get the clamps to hold on tightly.

How close is the bottom edge of the fairing to the roof? It looks like you have a 4" deep rack?

The bottom of the fairing is real close to the roof - less than 1/2" away. Yes, it's the 4" rack and the top of the fairing is a bit lower than the top bar of the rack. The mounting brackets have little rubber feet that hook on to the bottom of the fairing and rest on the roof. I have tape on the roof to prevent scratches.
