I would like to say hi to everyone. I have been lurking around for a while, finally decided to join up. Baja told me about this site. I must say there is quite a wealth of information floating around here.

Well a little about my self...
My truck: 1990 Toyota xcab (white) 4x4
Wildernest shell, almost 200k miles
that's about it, misc other little stuff

My wife and I enjoy traveling, mostly abroadrecently (Fiji, France, Spain, Italy). But we are now focusing on closer stuff. I inherited from my father a "where does that road go" gene.

We enjoy the central california coast, and the desert...well actually anywhere that gets us away from it all

thanks
robb

Welcome!! http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif Glad you made it.

There are some other people on this forum who have been to Fiji... I hope to be one of them some day. The genetic disposition you describe... I guess it is not all that uncommon http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/lol.gif ... around here anyway.

Great to have you! Stephanie (my wife) is off to Italy in March for 3 weeks! This group has no lack of travel junkies.

Great choice in vehicle by the way. Those wilderness campers are very cool (I dont think they make them anymore though).

I work in CA (but live in AZ). If you are in the Claremont/Ontario area, lets get together for lunch and talk adventures!!!

Take care,

With the price of gasoline in my neck of the woods ($2.50+), I'm spending time nearly each week finding out where a lot of those little roads go within a ten mile radius of my house. Living in the Owens Valley in eastern California - between the Sierra Nevada and the White Mountain/Inyo Ranges (both 13,000-14,000+ feet elevations), there are roads in nearly each and every canyon. Most don't go in too far, but I'm finding out I'm having as much fun and getting my exploration fix more often than waiting until I can take a day trip of 200+ miles round trip and at hardly any cost.

[quote]You are lucky. Down here in SoCal closer to the coast we are lousing 'recreational space' at an alarming rate. I still have a couple of canyons that can be explored by mtn bike and are only about a mile from my house. The larger of the two will be sacrificed to a 4 lane road in a year or two I am afraid.
