Has anyone delt with discover baja (or become a member?). They have some nice services available.

I need to get a Mexican Fishing lisence (for my spear fishing trip in March).

I was a member for several years. I joined to buy Mexican auto insurance. When I figured out how to get insurance without them I let my membership lapse. They put out a nice monthly about different things in Baja and they have always treated me well. I should rejoin. I keep me past issues as a reference.

</div>Scott, not sure if you have seen THIS (http://www.bajaquest.com/faq/fishing_regs.htm). If you are going to be in SD before the trip, you could stop in and get yourlicense there. It says a weekly license is $19.60.

I think Al has used or is using Discover Baja - I saw their sticker on his airstream http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/wink.gif

I've been a member since they opened many years ago. They kind of provide a one stop shopping spot for most all your needs while in Baja or the rest of Mexico, auto/RV insurance, fishing license, boat license, tourist cards etc. They also have a 'resource center' with books, maps & periodicals for sale relating to Baja/Mexico. They put on programs in conjunction with the San Diego Natural History Museum on various topics including talks by different authors such as Graham McIntosh, Harry Crosby, Greg Neiman & others. They also sponser trips thru the year for whale watching, Copper Canyon, fishing tournaments etc.

A definite must to join if your in the San Diego area, they are still a good info resource. As YukonBob mentioned, you now can get auto insurance easily without them. Tourist cards are now available free for a visit of seven days or less.

Hugh & Carol Kramer are the owners of Discover Baja & are nice folks. Did an 8 mile hike with them this past Saturday along with others.

When I go see 'Discover Baja', is anyone in the SD area up for dinner?

What about the BEMCC (http://www.bajadestinations.com/afish/afish2002/afish021223/afish021223.htm), anyone use them? Chris emailed me their link last yearwhen I went to Baja alone. I never did join, but I think I will this year before I go again.

</div>Really only 4 days? We got free ones for 7 days. Maybe nationality makes a difference http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/notme.gif . I know that US citizens get longer stays and car importation permits than some others.

Well, who know what are are really the official rules.
Doron is a US citizen. I know, with the accent and all...

They asked him 'for how long?, answ: 4 days. They asked me, I remember Bob advise, answ: '6 months'.
Doron did not need to pay anything, I did.

When I inquired the officer, he said for 4 days it was free...

Al,

What I meant was up to 4 days ...
If we have some kind of copy of a document from the Mexican government it will be better next time.
