Baja, SteveS, and Doron,
Thanks to Baja posting, here is the air compressor I got. I want to save my ARB compressor only to use with the ARB locker. It gets too hot to inflate4 tires at once.
I got mine here http://www.truckn-store.com/product_list.asp?id=1999
Who wants to wait forthe ARB compressorto cool down or use it at 30% duty cycle? http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/blush.gif
I know, we have been using it for a long time with no problems...http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/eyes.gif
The attached picture shows the ARB vs. the new puppy. Credit goes to BajaTaco's posting.

Have you kicked around the idea of removing your ARB and just have the new compressor for all your air needs? I might like to buy your old ABR if you don't use it.</div>
Baja where did you move your's too?</div>

Noop,
I need redundancy. Besides the ARB setup has been working 100%. Don't touch is the rule. Maybe just that rebuild that SteveS keeps talking about just to get it to better yet.
I will try to fit it in the engine compartment first. Put an air tank under the truck within the sliders.
Plan B is to mount the new compressor under the cargo platform Doron will help (he he he) http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/eyes.gif me to build. I will give him all the moral support and barbecue he can eat while doing the job http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/beertoast.gif http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/burger.gif
I am planning a trip to Doron'r place at the end of January. We, (http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/chairfall.gif ), will do the battery bracket and the cargo platform.

Jack, did I read that right? It draws 18 amps at 0 psi? Yikes!http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/freaked.gif Be sure to check the amp draw a full load before you decide what size battery cable to run to that monster!
And of course, be sure to let us know how well it works (noise, vibration, heatsoak, etc), because I recently noticed that my compressor grew legs while I was moving and now I need a new one.http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/cry.gif

Oh ... Sorry.
Check the post from BajaTaco on a install that is working. The guy seems happy. This same kind of compressor goes for about $400.00 on more specialized 4WD stores and sites.

Just curious why most of you have chosen to go with the hard mount air compressors like Viair and such versus something like the Powertank? I know the Powertank and the Viair 400 cost relatively the same don't they?</div>
I have been looking into getting an air compressor lately and had decided or so I thought on a portable type such as the Powertank.</div>

This seems to be quite a frequent issue (even seems to be a debate sometimes) on the 4x4 forums...
...but I chose a hard-mount for mine because of doing extended, remote trips where I did not want to take a chance on running out of CO2. Spending months in mexico, I didn't want to have to worry about trying to find CO2. I also like having all of the air I want for free and not having to mess with getting a tank refilled. However, I wish that I did have a powertank as well, for short trips and around the house, because just as the name implies - they are POWERFUL and QUICK! It would be nice to have the best of both worlds (like MrS - he has both).

I like the Viair (and similar), for durability. If you have a leak in the CO2 system and it runs out, your done. This is especially true with an ARB locker system, that would require the tank to be constantly supplying air to the locker "block". If I have a leak now, I hear the compressor running longer that it should. With the CO2 you will hear nothing but your own screems when the air is all gone http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/freaked.gif (Just a joke, it is early. Hee hee hee).
Seriously, I think the CO2 systems are nice for local runs, and vehicles not using air lockers. They fill tires like you are on shop air http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/supercool.gif
I do like the truck-n store compressor (I even though of buying it), but it pulls 60 amps at full load, and is pretty big compared to the Viair. That was my deciding factor.

I need Doron to give me the OK to stop by so we can install the cargo Platform and the new air compressor. It is in the box calling my name these last weeks...

Here is my spin about CO2. If you are just airing up tires, it's kinda pricey. Once you buy an air compressor, air is almost free, a CO2 tank is cheaper to set-up, BUT need refilling and I guess that makes it about 25 cents per tire.</div>
If you plan to re-bead a tire hard tire, run air tools, ora welder (thanks to 4RerDave), then CO2 is well worth having. </div>
If you travel like us and not doing the hard-core 4X4 stuff and running 35"+ tires, I'd say, get a compressor 1st. Of course the cost and set-up ease, makes the CO2 tank a GOOD THING when getting started.</div>
