Yup. I was hiding in Anza Borrego with barfy the jeep mutt (the name was very fitting today http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/shocked.gif )
Diablo Drop off has gotton extreamly easy. In fact, that far right line is the easiest one there now! A full size chevy pickup (completely stock, right down to the 35psi in the street tires) went up that way while we were there.http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/shakehead.gif
Heart Attack hill has gotton a bit worse.http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/ok-kewl.gif Was kinda scary at the top. Hope someone got some pictures.http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/camera_flash.gif Unfortunately, we only got 3 people up it, the rest didn't want to try it after watching me stand my jeep on it's back bumper at the very top (barfy didn't like it either). We were hoping to exit through the squeeze....but ended up turning around at sunset and going out via fish creek.
Loop wash had ALOT of water go through it sometime. I actually had to shift back into 4-lo in one spot!!! Basket ball sized rocks, and DEEP ruts, at night, with poor lighting...it was fun!
Was planning on staying out there tonight, but the dog hasn't been able to keep any food or water down all day, so I figured I better get her home where she can get something in her and keep it in her, otherwise she would be barfing all the way home tomorrow (she was barfed out tonight by the time we got off the trail).
Oh, I think everyone else set up a secret trip to go look for "trash" left in the trail. I know I kept my eyes open for some "trash" today too, but didn't find any worth keeping.http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/notme.gif

Good Times, is your dog actually sick or is it motion sickness? If it's motion sickness you can give him dramamine. Our dog Jake did well with dramamine when he was a pup. It helped some with Sadie, but her problem was more nerves than anything and I probably would have had better results if she had been given a tranquilizer. Sadie was rescued from a family that abused herso her problems wereemotional. But for plain old motion sickness - try the dramine. For dosage - go by how much your dog weighs and figure from there. A small dog would get a child's dosage, or perhaps half a dose. If in doubt, call your vet.

Steve, we had a couple from zr2.com (Seapahn--white zr2 blazer with all the 'gadgets', Tamar--young girl with the black zr2 pickup with 6' lift, and Jimmy, who none of us have ever met), and a few people from MJR.
Cecil, I'm still not sure if she was just car sick, or actually sick. She has been on trips before, all though none this long. I thought it was just motion sickness because every time we would stop for awhile, she was out running around having a good time. Towards the end of the day, she didn't want to get back in the jeep--at all! But then while at heart attack hill, she continued to throw up even after being out of the jeep for awhile. That is when I decided to bring her home rather than stay an additional day.
She is doing well today (no evidence of her being sick), so I am falling back to the story of motion sickness.

How old is your dog? Sounds like maybe a little bit of both - motion sickness and nerves. Poor Sadie, didn't get sick so much as she would sit in the back of the Blazer we had at the time and dribble so much she was foaming, the whole back seat would be wet! And she would tremble. My other two dogs wouldn't go anywhere near her, they would sit in the very back on top of all of the gear rather than be with her. Once she had several different types of trips under her belt, and she realized she was going to get to run around and have fun, she was fine. Although, like I said, she was from a family that had abused her the first 3 months of her life, so I'm she was quite confused when we took her on a trip. Now, that I've just lost my 14 1/2 year old dog, I'm going to have spend special time with both Jake and Sadie when we take them - they have only travelled once without Jessie, and that really confused them as she was their brain. By the I always offer the dogs water, of course, but I cut their feed down quite a bit on the trips just so they don't get car sick. Particularly when they are young and susceptable to getting car sick. I don't feed them before we take off, and I only feed them in the evening once our traveling for the day is over with. And I try to keep them away from treats and people food on a trip. Hard to do in a group situation sometimes, because everyone wants to treat the dogs!
Heartattack hill! Well... no wonder the dog didn't get back in the jeep! If the dog hasn't done a lot of trails, that one will get you - that's for sure!

She is still a pup (~5 months). Not sure of her history. I got herfrom a local no-kill rescue agency about a month ago. She has been on several trips, and never seemed to mind. I also don't feed her before a trip (she had dinner about 10 hours before we left), and people food is a no-no. She doesn't even get that when we are at home. She wasn't in the jeep when I went up HAH. She stayed below with the rest of the group because I don't have a harness for her yet (waiting until she finishes growing), and I didn't want her flying around if I tipped the jeep over at the top.

Hey, loved the picture, Good Times! I haven't done that trip in years!!! Regarding the pup, probably just an isolated incident then, particularly if she was fine after you got her home. Our dog Jessie did that once on a trip up highway 395, and she never got car sick before or after that, So who knows!
You are making me jealous, though, a new pup! I have my eye out for a new pup since Jessie died. It's 4 hours away from our house, but I'm on a e-mail and snail mail list for the Big Pine Animal Shelter in Owens Valley. A friend that lives up there deals with them, and I feel they need people to rescue their dogs and support them, more so than those here in LA. Still a bit soon after Jessie's death to think about actuallybringing one home yet, but I know in the next 6 months to a year I'll absolutely have to have a puppy!
Can't wait to see all the pictures and read stories from everyone elses trips! Boy, we were stuck at home doing the family holiday and birthday stuff. We won't get out of here until Harry's Death Valley trip the end of this month.
