This was a great trip.

Thanks Bob and Al for leading. Thanks Uwe and Sisuda to make it even more fun.
I am sure Bob and Uwe will cover the maps and Al will add to the report.

Don't trust them on the jokes around camp fire or anything regarding Brazilian translated jokes ...

I need to run to get ready for another Trip; Part II.

Thanks,
-JACK

It was a great trip! We capped it off at home with: </div>
Tequila Shrimp (marinate contains tequila, lemon, orange, garlic)</div>
http://www.rxtx.com:8085/4wdtrips/photogallery/data/media/79/shrimp_plate.JPG</div>

We got the shrimp from this guy (way to the left):

We really should have bought shrimp the day before and had them at the camp fire! No hesitation next time!!

Uwe,

Very nice plate of food. Very nice of you sharing it with us.
You should open a restaurant. With this kind of skills at home you two will make lots of money ...

Sorry I have not posted any real interesting thing on this trip yet. I am literally getting ready to leave for part II. For those of you that know me, this may take hours ...
Still need to solve the dog-sitting issue for part III, I am working on that as I prepare for part II.

Take care.

-JACK

Here is a link (http://www.billcaid.com/Altar2002/Altar2002TripReport.html) that should be of interest to those that went on this trip and the many discussions of the Altar Dunes. They even met a military patrol while in the dunes and pulled them out.</div>

The same group went again this year (http://www.billcaid.com/Altar2003/Altar2002TripReport.html). Talk about expedition vehicles. </div>

Great (Germanhttp://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/supercool.gif ) vehicles! Looks like these guys crossed our path in a number of places. I guess we took aphoto of the same bird nest on an abandoned power/phone line pole and of course they got themselves some of that jumbo shrimp (We finished the second half today, this time just grilled with some salt on pepper, 1.5kg is a lot of shrimp http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/burger.gif . Got to go back for some more now)

Is that near El Pinacate? Very cool, I want to see this place in person.

</div>Yes, it's part of the Sierra Pinacate park. It's in the north western corner close to crater MacDougal, name is Trebol (Molino).

The are is very interesting. I'd like to go back and do a little hiking around those craters.

Uwe and Srisuda,

Thank you very much for putting the pictures up.
Thanks also for the detail in hiding my license plate. I appreciate that.
It is shown in other places. No need for the extra work.

Thanks,
-Jack

Jack, I figured you didn't mind your license plate showing up in the pics since it is so cool http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/cool.gif

But seriously, I am not surehow soundthe concept of concealing license plate numbers on internet pictures is anyway? I guess to keep your internet identity somewhat anonymous? Think about it though - thousands of people can see your license plate all the time and could look up the info any time they wanted to. So is there much difference in it being shown on the internet? Regardless, if people are certain they do not want their license plate readable in my photo galleries, please let me know.

I don't conceal my plates either; never really worry about it much. Anymore, you need to be more concerned about concealing your good e-mail addresses than anything.

Personalized Plates are pretty cool though:

My Jeep plate says: ADVNTRE
My Rover plate says: WEXPLOR

-JACKIt's really no extra work, since I size and reduce the pictures in Adobe Lite anyway. I just used the 'smudge' tool to go over the license plates. I did it because I didn't know how everyone feels about it. Some here stopped using their call signs in the signature, isn't that a similar thing? I realize if one uses the internet and credit cards and mail order and such a lot of data floats around. Nothing is really private.
