My plan is to head home at the end of 12/28. On 12/29 I'll head to a friends place at LA Bay with my Airstream for New Years Eve (this has been a tradition for me the last 5 years). I'lldrive back upto Catavina on 1/1 to drop my trailer, then meet up with the group somewhere south of El Rosario.

Al, how did you like your new Avatar? Thanks to Uwe.

I remember you mentioning this tradition before. It should be a lot of fun meeting friends every year.

I just spoke with Doron.
Doron, Scott, and I will probably make the part II trip.

Any ideas you can give us for a hotel trip? We would start where Part II endsaround El Golfo.

There is San Felipe(close to El Golfo), Canon Guadalupe(camping), Laguna Hanson(camping), Mike's Skyranch, Rancho Buena Vista before winding up in San Quitin.

San Felipe is an option, thanks. I rather not do camping after these initial camping days. Need to hit a hotel to recharge the wife tolerance and get showers and real food.

Thanks,

Wow, Jack's planning a trip outside of the forum. He'd better watch out or his privilages might get taken away. What's with this spoke stuffhttp://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/freaked.gif

There are a couple of hotels in El Golfo.

San Felipe is an easy one day drive from El Golfo. You can even take some back roads. The question is what do you want to do after San Felipe. You can go to Ensenada and join us at the La Pinta or you can head south and end up in Catavina and meet us like Al is going to do. There are lots of possibilities.http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/ok-kewl.gif

Peggy,

> The question is what do you want to do after San Felipe. You can go to Ensenada and join us at the La Pinta

Yes, the idea is to join you guys for the second round of fun.
Regarding the phone, Doron is swamp at work. Phone is the way to talk to him. He has not been around on the forum for a while.
Also, Captain Steve and Edie are planning to make this trip too.

Now that you mentioned a day driving down and a day driving up is far to go to San Felipe. We just have ~ 2 days.

Sorry Jack, when I said an easy day I meant a half day and you could even make it in a easy day if you got lost or went on an adventure. No need to come back from San Felipe. You can go directly to Ensenada, explore some of Baja south of San Felipe and get to Catavina, or go from San Felipe to Mike's Sky Ranch and see if you can find the road across to Melling Ranch and then head to San Quintin for the night. You've got a lot to do.

And your time frame is more than two days. You'll be leaving El Golfo on Sunday. Even if you leave at noon you should be able to get to San Felipe. (Don't take me word for this consult your map) That gives you two days to get to Ensenada or if you are going to meet Al in Catavina three days. You could go as far as Bahia De Los Angeles.

You should look at that map you bought of Mexico and get some perspective. I'll help you with the routes after you decide where you want to go.

Bob,

I would like to meet you in in Ensenada. Doing Al's trip, would require some more camping. I am trying to minimize camping on the cold weather.

Thanks for the idea. I apreaciate that.

We'll look forward to seeing you in Ensenada.

But just so you know, you can drive from San Felipe to Bahia De Los Angeles in less than a day. They have hotels. Bahia De Los Angeles to Catavina is very reachable and there is a hotel there. San Felipe to Catavina is an easy drive. There is some beautiful country to see along the Sea of Cortez.

Hello,

I will not be able to make Part II. The kids are getting a bit sick.
I will have to come back from Part I and check on the family to try to make Part III.

Good way to avoid the bug, go on a trip! Make sure you wear a protective mask when you check on them and wash your hands after you touched anything. http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/joker1.gif

On a more serious note, Jack, I hope they don't get this flu followed by this horrible upper respiratory thing (the stage we are in right nowhttp://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/mad.gif. We'll be fit by next week, but this thing takes over a week to get through. Feed them vitamins!

Thank Uwe,

I see what you mean. This is not easy thing. Georgia and Eric were really sick some weeks back. Know it seems it is trying to come back to Eric and starting on Pedro yesterday. Still nothing bad yet.

You have to see our living room. All the nice things I got for this trips. Hats x 5, gloves x 5, cots x 4, fleece blankets x 4, very cool gas can x2 , one very cool water can, portable table, portable toilet, and other small things.
Can't just not go in one trip at least. I will not take all this gear, but I will test some of it.
Besides having Bob at Baja will be a treat.
Marcelo and Jim W. told me that would try to make it too. We will see.

Hello,

The way it stands now, Doron is coming to San Diego. We will do some kind of exploration for part II.
Probably Anza Borrego since Doron does not know it yet.

Then we drive together to Ensenada for Part III.
