I had no great adventures this weekend, as my poor wife was sick with the flu, etchttp://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/mad.gif
So I had lots of time to work on vehicles and the website. I thought some of you could benefit from these new trip reports:

Alaska x2- This IS the last frontier! What an adventure
Colorado Trails- Beautiful place with great trails
El Camino Del Diablo x2- We should plan a trek here for later in the year!

Scott,

Nice!

Alaska is one of the locations I would like to do some 4WD trips. I am not sure about how many roads are really there open for exploration.
I've been there working once. But I flew. Actually, I went twice within a two weeks time frame. Anchorage.

Are you going to propose / plan trip? We will need weeks of vacation if we want to drive there, right?
It will take us months maybe one year to get ready and sync the vacation time.

Thanks,
-JACK

that was fun...</div>
Actually Alaska IS the last frontier. There are more intense, remote vehicle and personal adventures in that place than I could complete in alifetime, and it is the only place I have actually felt like I moved DOWN the food chain. The place is breathtaking.</div>
There are at least 30 trails in the Anchorage area that offer mud, rocks, fords, off-camber/rutted climbs, logs, bears, winching for 200+ feet, road building, wolves, log bridges, and did I mention the scenery?</div>

I know I am being a little dramatic (sorry), but I do love the place. If there is enough interest, I will plan the trip. But, if we want to take our own vehicles, we would need a month! Early July is the perfect time (no bugs, and no darkness). </div>
If there is enough interest I will post more videos on my site. For now there are 4 videos on this trip report from my last visit (2002). It will give you a good idea of how exteme the terrain can be. http://www.expeditionswest.com/adventures/2002/Alaska_2002/index.html</div>

Scott,

How about we ship the vehicles? Last time I checked it was $400.00 to South America.
a) Drive up, ship the trucks back.
b) Ship them and drive back down.
c) Ship them to Alaska and back.

That will save us some time. Hey good reason to buy a winch.

I am sure we can plan easier tracks, right? The ones you shown are out of my 4Runner capabilities and my safety zone.

How about you start a new Thread on this trip please.

Thanks,
-JACK

Nice pictures Scott. I am going to do as Baja, and check out the links in more detail when I can devote a lot more time. An Alaskan trip sound great, but I would have to really think out the being away for a whole month part. But I will be following the discussion on it and keep thinking about it.
