If a picture is worth a thousand words, I think Baja's are worth a couple of thousand. It looks like Baja has done about 14000 words so there is no hurry for me to get into my words.
The title of this thread means Adventure on Wheels and I took it from a company in Nuevo Casas Grandes called Adventura Sobre Rielas which means Adventure on Rails. We took their adventure on rails and I can confirm that it is an adventure.I'll start the story of this 4wdtrip in themiddle and how we came to be riding the rails as soon as I get unpacked and find some photos.

Glad you made it back and all is well. I figured I would get more pictures together, and leave the tall tales to the guy who can spin them the best http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/wink.gif . I can always add commentary to them... buta Yukon Bob trip report is worth waiting for http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I think everyone would also like to hear your version of the trip. I know I would like to hear the trip through your eyes. Come on! Give us some of the highlights!

Yes we can. It's just like good food.</div>
highlights? There were too many</div>
ummm...</div>
ok, a quick one, with a little humor...</div>
It started to get dark on the second night, and we were looking for a place to camp. We were close to a small villiage with spread outranch settlements, and we weren't too sure about finding a secluded spot well off of the road. So we took a coupla gambles. I suggested we just take one of the faint tracks that peeled off to the east and headed towards the foothills. At first, this little two-track seemed pretty pleasant... but as I was the lead vehicle on the mini-reconnaissance mission, my first comment on the radio was "carne seca" (dried beef). Apparently, this was the local dumping ground for the rancher's unfortunate cattle losses. Soon, we were negotiating cow carcasses as though we were on a slalom course test-drive for MotorTrend magazine. As we unanimously decided that we would not be camping here tonight, the road ended, so we were forced to do a turn-about on the desert tarmac and head for the exit. In doing so, Bob got in front of me, and I had to laugh as he haphazardly tagged one of the fallen comrades with his rear tire in his haste to get Peggy back out to the road. The dried carcass flopped up like a piece of plywood and then came back down with a resounding "thud" and a little poof of dust... http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/lol.gif </div>

Unfortunately, I just haven't had the time to do a proper write-up on this trip. I did manage to get some more pics together though...
The gallery (http://www.bajataco.com/sierra2003/index.htm) (not finished)

Great pictures. The black and white of Peggy doing her Lumholtz imitation at the Olla is pretty good. I've attached a scan of the original from Lumholtz's book.</div>
What did you think of Paquime?</div>

I was hoping you would post the Lumholtz version so I could compare! http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/ok-kewl.gif That's cool!
Paquime was pretty neat. The museum was great - lots of beautiful stuff in there. BTW, they didn't charge me anything to look at the museum or the ruins. The ruins were pretty huge. I got some decent pics, but definitely the worse time of day - harsh sunlight. It was neat to see the 3D models of what the town looked like when it was all intact. If only we could step into a time machine...
I was a little bummed out that they would not allow any cameras to be usedin the museum - period. Even if you disabled the flash. I really wanted to take pics of the beautiful beaded jewelry and carved pendants that they had recovered from the digs, so I could show them to Sharon.

I FINALLY got the rest of my pics up!! Sierra Madre Expedition - 2003 (http://bajataco.com/sierra2003/index.htm)
Big thanks to Uwe for stitching the panorama shot together for me, and thanks to Bob for helping with the text editing (and remembering places/names - he's good at that).

I FINALLY got the rest of my pics up!! It was worth the wait. The panorama of Cave Valley just blows me away. I've been to Cave Valley several times but I had never seen a photograph that could explain to others about Cave Valley. I thinkit is a perfect expression of Cave Valley. Great Job.http://www.4wdtrips.net/forum/emoticons/ok-kewl.gif
Uwe, did you put it together with the software from your Canon or did you use something else?

Uwe, did you put it together with the software from your Canon ...Yup.
Now the Canon has the panorama mode, I don't know how/if that improves the stiching. If you look closely on the Cave Valley picture you'll see seams, but they are not obvious enough to really distract from the picture. I think it came out quite good.

When you put it in panorama mode it locks the camera settings so everything is taken at the same settings. Makes the stiching a little more seamless. Put you did a really good job. I noticed the seams but they weren't important compared to the final product.
