With the sad anniversary of 9/11 coming up tomorrow, I am curious about everyone's thoughts and rembrances. I wrote this story when I got back from traveling after the tragic event, and put it on my website this month. Here's a link to Traveling The Heartland of America - The Days After 9/11 http://explorehistoricalif.com/911.html

Anyone else have interesting stories or rembrances, or just a thought about the anniversary?

Nice text.
Sad moments. Lets hope that here and in any other place things like 9/11 will not happen again.

I was writing an email on my computer when my neighbor called and told me to turn on my TV quick. All hell was breaking loose in New York City. I turned on the TV and watched the aftermath of the first plane. I was glued to the TV after that, sort of numb.

Then came the image of the second plane coming in and slamming into the second tower of the Trade Center. That image also slammed me out of my numbness that I felt previously. But what really hit hard was when it was announced that it was a United flight out of Boston heading for Los Angeles.

My wife was in Martha's Vineyard for the previous week and was scheduled to fly out of Boston this particular morning on a United flight to LA. And I didn't write down the flight number nor did I recall what it was. I thought I had witnessed my wife's death on live television.

I wouldn't find out if she was dead or alive until late that night when she finally got through to me on her cell phone.

My wife's flight was the very next scheduled United Boston-LA flight after the one that was highjacked and died with all America watching.

My wife wasn't able to come home for seven more days, as all America's transportation systems had jammed due to 9/11.
